4 Steps To Lower Your Instant Boat Insurance Quote

There are several ways to get a better rate on your boat insurance. Some of them are beyond our control, but others are a matter of personal choice. With a little patience and research, one can improve the rate to a good degree and save a good deal of money in the long run.

Basic improvements to your boat insurance rate are not all that hard to accomplish. The main thing you need is patience. All good things to those who wait as the old saying goes. If waiting is not a problem then there is no reason why you should not be able to get a decent boat insurance quote.

First you should make a good choice on boats. Just like a car, the sportier a boat is the more expensive the insurance will be. For basic purposes you should make every attempt to choose a boat that is as safe as possible.

New autobot boat/car is a Humdinga

If you've currently got that Spanish language bootleg copy of the new Transformers movie lined up for download on Bittorrent, you might be interested in this - a HUMMER that's been modified to tear up water.

The Humdinga is able to reach 40mph on water, thanks to its 350bhp engine that, when using its wheels on the ground, can take the American tank up to over 100mph.

"The wheels retract, the power train switches from the wheels to a jet propulsion system and the vehicle is in amphibious mode" says maker Gibbs Technology, clearly hoping robot fever wins it a bit of positive PR.

The Humdinga is currently a one-off prototype, though, which is probably for the best as even the insurance on a 1.8 Golf is a bit much to swallow these days.

INAMAR Recreational Marine Insurance Announces Top Ten ...

Philadelphia, PA - Recreational boating activity soars during warm weather months, and so do boating incidents and injuries. According to the U.S. Coast Guards Boating Statistics 2005,1 the most recent year available, there are almost 13 million registered recreational boats in the United States. Overall boating fatalities continue to occur, with 697 recreational boating fatalities reported in 2005. Close to 5,000 boating accidents were reported,1 and more than 3,400 people required medical treatment beyond first aid. Property damage exceeded $38 million.

Though the statistics are sobering, the risk of boating injuries and accidents can be minimized. According to the U.S. Coast Guard, the majority of reported incidents involved operator controllable factors and can be prevented. In recognition of the recent proclamation by the White House designating an annual National Safety Boating Week, the INAMAR Recreational Marine Insurance unit of ACE USA again has released its top ten list detailing tips to help recreational boaters stay safe, thus reducing the number of preventable accidents that occur each year.

Virtual villages of caravanland

Britain's biggest caravan park, stretching in sections through devastated regions from Gloucestershire to Hull, is under construction in the wake of the floods.

Options have been placed on virtually every spare vehicle in the country by insurance firms and local authorities as part of the largest temporary housing operation since the resettlement of Vietnamese boat people 30 years ago.

Norwich Union has bought 200 caravans, and reserved 650 more, in a market that has seen prices rise by up to £1,000 a vehicle. Several "virtual villages" of mobile homes are nearly finished in places such as Toll Bar, near Doncaster, where almost an entire community is having to move out to allow repairs. Student hostels and hotels have been block-booked and an off-season cruise ship is being considered as emergency housing in Hull.

Do fence me in

They purchased property on Cienega Road in the city of Big Bear Lake not far from the marina for boat trailer storage. They put up the fence to keep trespassers out at the suggestion of their insurance company, Brownie said.

City staff ordered the fence taken down, stating that the chain link fence is an accessory to the property, which is prohibited unless a primary use for the property exists. According to Ruth Lorentz, assistant planner, the vacant lot doesn't constitute a primary use. Lorentz also said the city's design standards prohibit chain link fences adjacent to a right of way.

Brownie appealed the staff decision to the Planning Commission July 18. The commission took Brownie's plight to heart and allowed the fence to remain in place pending a completed application for a conditional use permit.
